Have you ever watched the unfolding beauty of a sago palm as it grows? Those bushes grow so fast and look so odd when they are re-growing their palms after trimming.
We lost ours yet again after another strong freeze this winter. Since they are tropical plants, they don’t do well at all in the winter. We don’t usually get strong winters. Ours are usually mild.
But the last two or three years, we’ve lost our sago palm’s fronds. Thankfully, they grow right back in the summer!
We had to cut them to the ground this spring and I was hoping they would grow back before yesterday’s graduation party. They did!
Christian headed out on Thursday to take photos but –wow—I was just swamped with preparations for the graduation party by then. So I couldn’t share this post with you then.
Yesterday, I took a much deserved break, it being Mother’s day. After all the festivities, it was nice to sit out on the deck and enjoy the luxurious feeling of being DONE..and the glorious beauty of the intense GREEN surrounding us.
Not only are the sago palms thriving, but the magnolia blossoms are just gorgeous!
It’s like a tropical/country paradise out here (depending on where you look-LoL!)
I’ve always thought it odd th at the original owners put a tropical pond and bushes out here..but that’s what you get for being in a sub-tropical part of Texas. We get country..but tropical too. :o)
I had a lovely Mother’s day. We went out for lunch and then Tim picked up flowers on the way home..which I will share tomorrow for Tuesday Tea.
I’m at the college right now as Jacob is finishing up his biology final. He won a small scholarship from a science organization! It’s not a lot of money but it is a great honor. His professor nominated him and he was one of five college students from across Texas to win. I’m so proud of him! What a week for Jacob!
I’ll tell you all about the party later…but for now, we are heading off to the Dept. of Public Safety to take the driving test, after a little final practice on parallel parking.
I would so appreciate your prayers for Jacob as we have submitted his new letters from the neurologist and medical papers to the military medical dept. We do hope they will accept him after the medical review.
I hope you all had a lovely Mother’s Day! How did you celebrate?
