Ahh-choo! Someone quick..get me a tissue! You know how you think maybe you aren’t ‘really’ getting sick..so you just keep going, hoping you are wrong? Well, that’s what I did today, though it didn’t work. Sigh… Rebekah had our ‘girly date’ all planned out…and I made it through most of it. We stopped at a pawn shop to get my birthday present (early) which was a soft carry bag (instead of a hard boxy case) for my acoustic guitar and a capo that can be removed and moved easily. (I’ve wanted one for years!) Then we went straight to Wal-mart for some flu medicine because after only 30 minutes on the road, I recognized what was happening. Phooey! I drank down the flu meds (similar to EmergenC—my favorite drink when sick) and then headed over to Sam Moon’s Jewelry Store.

Donna’s New Necklace
Wow..this store is jewelry heaven! The prices are basically wholesale and the jewelry is stunning! Part of the purpose of our date was to buy some pretty things with some of my Christmas money. We both came home with several sets of really trendy jewelry. (Rebekah had to help me with that part of course.:o) The best part?? YOU can shop there too! Right now!…Just click here for their fabulous website. When it comes to being frugal..this shop is a girl’s best friend for jewelry shopping.
Then we headed to Market Street in the Woodlands, which I told you about earlier. First stop was the Jamba Juice place…I was still trying to lick this malaise feeling that was building. Normally, we would get a Starbucks on a girly date..but I needed the juice…and the energy boost. Rebekah ordered the fabulous Pomegranate Paradise with an Energy booster—for two! (I was still in denial here..but I was hoping this would help. ) Rebekah suggested it since she’s recently fallen in love with the fruit. It really did taste out of this world..and I felt like I had the energy to go on.
So on we went to a shop that Rebekah had heard about, called Charming Charlie’s and was determined that we visit. It was another fashion jewelry store though they sell clothes and accessories too. Oh my goodness! I’ve never SEEN such a place! It’s all sorted by color and is just a spectacular place to shop. ( My friend Maria would just have a fit here!! It’s a color lovers smorgasbord!)
They had the most creative clothes, accessories and jewelry all coordinated and all very unique. If you have a hard to shop for friend..well, this is the place to go. Can you believe our surprise and delight to find the prices were incredibly reasonable? We were expecting ‘shopping mall’ or ‘department store’ prices. Beautiful necklaces were selling for only $9.95. I kept expecting to see a $20.00 price tag. But it didn’t happen. We decided that on our next girly date we are headed straight for this place.
We also visited a store whose photos I shared at Christmas-time. I fell in love with the pillows in this very upscale shop. We took a good look at the ‘rose pillows’ which were available in lots of ‘in’ colors like turquoise and grey plus other more traditional shades too. I’m convinced I can sew one of these and am considering making yellow rose pillows for the living room. I smell a tutorial in the offing! Nope..I’m for sure not gonna pay for this one! Ha!
Well, by then..I was starting to really succumb to the ‘Aaah-choo!!’s’, so Rebekah took over the driving and we went to pick up my son from a friend’s house. And what a good friend she was! She took one look at me and began to ply me with some of my favorite home remedies. First I had to down some NingXia-Red drink, then some inner defense pills from Young Living, and to tell you the truth, I don’t remember what else. She sent me home with two bottles of pills, but made me lay down on her couch, covered me with a throw (since she was headed out to ladies bible study—Rats! I was supposed to play the guitar for worship that night!) because Jacob and his friend had not arrived yet. This is what you call a true friend!
By the time Rebekah got us all home, I had been snoozing an hour, and the medicine really did do wonders for me. We settled down on the couch and she made me some hot tea. Thank goodness I had put a chicken in the crock pot along with some fresh veges and lots of lemon pepper, so I didn’t have to cook. It’s funny how quiet and calm the living room seemed with all the Christmas decorations put away. My youngest son had packed up most of it while we were gone. It was just such an A++ day…except for that darn cold!
Well..it didn’t keep me from writing up this little entry in my Mother-daughter diary (AKA…my blog.) but am I ever ready to go back to bed! I’ve been napping off and on all evening, but I can tell that I’m getting worse, so if you don’t hear from me for a couple of days..don’t give up! I have the most super awesome organizing post coming up. In fact I have several. I just did a ‘makeover’ of a friend’s papers and files and her little office. It took the whole day, but we ended the day perfectly with ‘high tea’ English style. She recently had tea in England and couldn’t wait to serve me. :o) Guess I know whose china we’ll be seeing next Tuesday. :o)
By the way, one of my newest bloggy friends, The Clip Cafe issued a ‘pay it forward’ challenge, and I accepted it. It’s to give away three homemade gifts in 2011. Now how in the world is that supposed to be a ‘challenge’?! The challenge would be for me to ‘limit’ myself to only three! Ha! I’m thinking I’ll give away three ‘mug rugs’ like Kerrie’s at Kerrie’s Krafts 3.
I will aim for sometime in the next 8 weeks…just to give myself some space. What a day! Now it’s time to go to sleep…after I take those last few pills…and get a nice warm cup of chamomille tea. Hopefully…I’ll get over this bug soon. :o)Here’s how it works. Pay it forward 2011: I promise to send something handmade to the first 3 people who leave a comment here.To be eligible, you must also post this in your blog, offering the same thing to 3 other people. The rules are that it must be handmade by you and it must be sent to your 3 people *sometime* in 2011. I suggest if you are playing along you give yourself an approximate *due by* date so the people that signed up aren't waiting terribly long.
Have a lovely first week of the New Year!
